1 year ago today

A year ago today I was in the hospital, 20 weeks pregnant, and having surgery to remove my gallbladder. We had just found out the day before that we were having a boy and were very nervous about what would happen to our little one.
This February 28 was a very different day. Levi and I took our happy and healthy 7 month old out for a walk and played in the park. What a difference a year makes and how grateful we are for having him here with us to enjoy.

Hairstyles in the bath

One of Gavin's favorite things is water. His favorite room in the house is the bathroom. He loves running water and being in the bath. Now that he has hair, it is fun to try new styles in the bath!

Sick Baby Boy

Levi has returned from Chicago and thankfully so. While he was gone this house got turned upside down! First Gavin got a cold, which he still has and isn't going away anytime soon. Then, as I am laying Gavin down for bed, my back goes out. I thought I was going to die! My mom got off work early the next day and came to help. I don't know what I would have done without her! She also had some wonderful, magical muscle relaxers to offer me which helped like a charm! Well after that, I got Gavin's cold.
We are more than grateful to have Levi home. Gavin was missing his daddy very much. One night Madi spent the night and Gavin thought it was his daddy sitting at the computer and had a meltdown when he looked and it wasn't. Madi was so sweet to let Gavin hold her hand and rub her face like like he does to his daddy when he falls asleep in bed with us. For a few nights in a row I had to sleep on my back with Gavin on my shoulder so he could breathe. That did NOT help my back one bit!
Last night I took Gavin over to my mom's house to ride the rocking horse for the first time. He will have alot of fun on this for months to come. Levi has the next two days off and I can't wait to have that family time!

Babbling Boy

Gavin has always been a very quiet baby, but just in the last few days he has really started to babble. I think it is too cute! I started a blog just for Levi to be able to see videos and pictures of him while he is away, but I thought I would share one of the videos of Gavin "talking" on here. Just to tug at his heart strings, I told Levi he was saying "byebye" :) Enjoy! The file is big so it might take a while to load.

Feeling Blue

Levi and I were very excited last week to find out he was getting a promotion at work. He will now be the manager of a new store opening in April. However they surprised him with a training in CHICAGO! So at 8:00 a.m. myself and a sleepy baby waved goodbye as Levi drove off for a long trip. He will be gone until Friday. FRIDAY!! As I came back inside the house, I held back tears and could only be thankful that today was Sunday and I had just enough time to get Gavin and I ready for church.
Now I am sitting in the dark, Gavin is asleep and I am waiting for the phone to ring. This reminds me of every time Levi would have go to Bentonville when the dorms closed. I can't count how many times I drove up early morning and Levi would have an entire day planned because we couldn't go to his parent's house because he didn't want to share me. Then after a day of movies, picnics, and planning the next visit, (which was usually him trying to surprise me but ruining it by the nervous tone in his voice) I would drive home wishing he was coming with me. Now we have our own home, but he isn't here! Sad... Well, at least I get to cook with mushrooms, sour cream, and cream cheese this week!

Standing Tall

My little one my only be 15lbs, but he is going strong like the big boys! This week he has let Levi and I know that he can pull himself up to standing! It is a scary thing because he will let go at any moment! Also letting him sit in a chair or on the couch while I make his bottle is no longer an option. He is also crawling little by little. He has started cheating by lunging himself at his toys. Whatever works! Here he is with his Valentine to Mommy and playing with his new piggy bank . Aren't his pants cute? My mom made Levi, Gavin and me matching pjs for Christmas. We need to get a family photo in them!

Valentine's Day

Yesterday was the best Valentine's Days I have ever had and one of my favorite days to enjoy being a mommy! Levi had the day off so we made an entire day of it. Levi sent me flowers. Gavin (with some help from Daddy) made me a card out of candy hearts that said I Love Mom. Gavin's favorite part of the day was the giant monkey balloon I had bought him. There were lots of gifts and surprises. I even made a dinner that came out pretty good! And to top it off Gavin slept through the entire movie we had rented! We also enjoyed some time as a family outside and took some beautiful pictures. I love Valentine's Day!
