My Buddy Doll

Okay.. this is a post about something I noticed that I couldn't decide if it was neat or creepy.
When Levi was little he had a My Buddy Doll that he remembers carrying around everywhere. When we were dating and going through the lovey dovey kissy kissy phase, I wanted a sentimental gift for my birthday. He wanted examples so I told him it would be sweet if he found a my buddy doll for me to sleep with while he was gone during summer breaks. Well in true male fashion, that was EXACTLY what he got me. In fact my husband has never once surprised me with a gift I hadn't suggested.. ha.. so back to the story...
Gavin has been going through a phase of hitting us in the face. He does it when he is excited or just feels like we aren't paying attention to him. Whatever the cause, it is something we are trying to stop. I pulled out the my buddy doll which had been in a closet for quite some time, and did a little experiment. When Gavin hit the doll's face, I cried for the baby, held him and gave him one of Gavin's paci's. After doing this for a few days, I noticed something. The doll has blonde hair, blue eyes and a dimple on his left check. Gavin has blonde hair, blue eyes and a dimple on his left cheeck. While everything can be explained; Gavin has Levi's hair, my dad's eyes and my dimple, I still felt the need to put the doll away for a day or two. ha..
I went through the pictures we have of Levi as a child (it look me a good half hour to find them) and found a picture of him with the doll only to realize our scanner isn't hooked up. I did take a picture of Gavin with the doll when he was one month old. I would take a recent one, but now Gavin sees the doll as the mean boy who takes his paci. ha

Happy Daddy Day!

Today was my Daddy's day! I wanted to be spiffy clean for his big day, so me and Daddy had some big bath time fun! Mommy says I have the cutest laugh in the whole wide world. Daddy agrees!

Then Mommy and me decided to take Daddy out for breakfast. Don't I look like my Daddy? We are one handsome pair!Here I am waiting in style wearing Mommy's sunglasses! The food looked yummy! I was only allowed to eat my corn puff snacks. Sorry for throwing them up on you dad!Then we went to Babies-R-Us where I got birthday outfits and swimsuits! I fell and got a boo-boo on my noggin in the store. This walking thing is harder than it looks. Luckily since Mommy forgot to pack the Tylenol, we were in the prefect place to buy some. Then Mommy said it was okay for Daddy to go to Best Buy. That store is BORING! Mommy says I can't touch anything! But I kept myself busy picking out gadgets for Daddy to buy in the catalog. Mommy kept the camera in my face FOREVER trying to get me to say DaDa but I just wasn't in the mood for talking. To keep her happy I did show off my clapping skills . I can be quite the mover and shaker when I hear good music! A skill I did NOT get from my Daddy, but it is sure funny when he tries! (My shirt says, "Daddy thinks he is in charge" So true!)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DADDY! I LOVE YOU!!!

Nature.. Both Good and Bad

Friday afternoon the weather was actually pretty decent compared to recent days, so I decided to take Gavin out for a walk. Gavin was itching to get out of the house and was giddy when I got the stroller out! We were only at our first stop for a few minutes when I noticed we were sitting in ants. Ugh.. So we get back in the stroller and head to a new shady spot.
We tried the sunglasses out and Gavin taught me that glasses are not for wearing, they are for eating. We then tried some Mommy and me pictures. This is a 10 month old's version of hugs and kisses...A pinch and a bite.. That's more like it... We had only been outside about 15 minutes, enjoying every minute, when I notice a spider on his shoulder. I flick it off , pick him up to make sure it was gone, and all the sudden he starts throwing up. It is all over me, himself and the camera. Before I could get us cleaned up, he starts throwing up again. Of course I am wondering if the spider bit him and I am about to make a puke covered trip to the emergency room! So I get back to the house as fast as I can , strip him down and check every nook and cranny for a bite or rash. Fortunately after about an hour of checking him every 5 minutes for any change, I found nothing. I guess he must have snuck in a leaf or who knows what else when I wasn't looking. I am so thankful he is okay, but am so upset a stupid spider ruined our one decent day!

Precious Girl and Grimy Bathtub

First I will talk about our grimy bathtub. We live in Harding owned townhouses. They are the newest and nicest housing Harding has to offer married students, but our particular house has one grimy bathtub! Levi and I have tried everything under the sun to get the bottom of the tub white. The best looking Levi ever got it was by using toilet bowel cleaner. Gross I know, but we were having guests and we couldn't stand it looking so dirty. I know it is clean, but it looks like we are coal miners.
So the other night I went to clean it and afterwards I knocked over Levi's shampoo. After putting things away, I had forgotten about it until the next morning when I went to take a shower. A small amount of his shampoo had leaked out and bleached the tub white as new! I went downstairs and asked Levi if he wanted me to buy him the same kind of shampoo because I was using his up on the tub. I covered the bottom of our tub and checked back this morning and our tub has never looked so good!
So if you have a grimy tub use Pantene Pro V Shampoo/Conditioner and it'll do the trick! (I also wonder how such a powerful shampoo can be good for his scalp!)

Now onto my sweet 4 yr old niece, Madeline Grace. My father passed away when I was 18 yrs old, just after I graduated high school, from cancer. My mom keeps pictures of him up in the house and has a large wedding photo in her room. My dad wore a white suit so Madi has always referred to her PaPa as MawMaw's prince.
After looking through old photo albums from my sister and my childhood, Madi looked at my mom and said, "MawMaw, I don't understand why PawPaw would want to live with Jesus and not with you." My mom replied, "It is because PawPaw got very, very sick and it was better for him to live with Jesus."
Madi was content until later that night she asked her mom the same question. My sister replied, "PawPaw got very sick and died. Jesus came to take him to Heaven where he will wait until he can see us again one day." Madi's eyes teared up and didn't want to talk about it anymore. It was the first time anyone had told her PaPa had died.
Last night my mom and Madi were sitting on the back porch under blankets watching the stars. They were about to head inside so my mom blew out the candles that were keeping the mosquitoes away. Madi said, "Wait MawMaw, I need to make a wish." My mom lit a candle and Madi knelt down on her knees and folded her hands. She said, "I wish to God that PaPa is happy with Jesus" and blew out the candle.
How much sweeter can a wish get?? I hope with all my heart that Gavin has the same interest and love for his PaPa as his cousin Madi.

My 2 teeth

Gavin is 10 months old and still only has 2 teeth! I cannot complain because he is one heck of a biter! I can't blame him because I'm sure his urge to bite is the same as our urge to scratch an itch, but man does it hurt! The boy leaves bruises on my arms daily. I lucked out though. Gavin only goes for my arms, elbows and hands. He goes for Levi's nose! Ouch!

My Vocabulary

Gavin's vocabulary has broadened this past month. Some words are incomplete but are consistent with the object.
MaMa = Momma
DaDa = Daddy
NaNa = NaNa (said for the first time today! MawMaw NaNa was thrilled!)
PaPa = Paci
Ba = Ball
GuhGuh = Good (said when he is eating solids)
NoNoNoNo = No! (said when an object is taken away)

He also will pant when he is around my dog who is ALWAYS hot. Maybe that counts?? :)

I try my hardest to get his words on video but he is still giving me a hard time .
What is a post without pictures... They have nothing to do with words, but who cares!
YeeHa! Ride em cowboy!

Be gentle to Teller! Uncle Levi and Madi washing their "rides'
Look at those eyelashes!!

Too tired for lunch - This is his ornery face. Can you tell??

What a cutie. We are so glad he belongs to us!
