19 Months

We are now closer to Gavin's 2nd birthday than we were to his 1st. I am speechless as to how that makes me feel.

One new thing about Gavin is I think he is telling us he is ready for potty training. I always assumed we would wait until he turned 2, BUT..... If Gavin escapes during a diaper change, he will run, climb onto a couch or bed, look down, crunch his stomach and pee. Gross, I know. He will also do this before getting into the tub or after the water drains. He also wakes up from his naps with a dry diaper. I know you can start potty training too early, but is there such a thing as missing your opportunity???

Also. now that Carrigan is interested in toys, Gavin is entering into the world of sharing. Boy, oh Boy am I about to have my hands full!

4 Months old!

Wow! Wow! Wow! 4 months! How could it be?? If she follows Gavin's patterns, she will be sitting up in 1 month, crawling in 3, and walking in 6! That doesn't seem possible!!

Carrigan is now playing with her toys. She will grab anything! I can no longer read, take a drink, or eat while holding her. If I do, there will be a mess!
She is also laughing more and smiles all day. She is quite comfortable in her Bumbo seat. Carrigan is also well aware that when she is put down, it means mommy walks away. She is hesitant of others holding her. She STILL wont take a paci!! ... but of course anything else is welcome into her mouth.
Carrigan pulls out hundreds of Mommy's hairs a day. Daddy is the funny one.
Her hair is coming in quickly this month and seems to be the color of Gavin's. Her eyes are still blue with no signs of changing.
There is one clear reaction when people see her. They put their hand to their heart and say, AWW! :)

Oh, and her left eyebrow always looks like its growing downwards. It isn't. Carrigan rubs that eye when she is playing and when she is tired. It is funny because my mom, myself and Carrigan all have two differently shaped eyebrows.

18 Month Appointment

Gavin's check-up went well. The doctor said he was the only child that day that wasn't sick! We can't help but be thankful for that!

Weight: 21.8lbs - 3rd percentile

Height: 31 1/4 inches - 10 - 15th percentile

He is still small, but it is a victory for us that he gained 2 lbs in the past 3 months.

The doctor wants us to try an antihistamine that has a side effect of increased appetite. Even though we trust the doctor, Levi is going to research the medicine before we start giving it to him. I want to be well aware of the negative side effects.

In my last post about Gavin I said he was off baby food except veggies. Well, he is now not eating fruit. The only fruit he will eat are Mandarin oranges, so its back to spoon feeding them. That is no easy task when he wants to be a big boy and do it on his own.

A funny thing he is doing now is wiping is face and blowing his nose. We were eating Subs the other night and he picked up Levi's bread and blew his nose in it! He wipes his face on EVERYTHING! If there isn't a couch, shirt, or blanket to wipe his face on, he will get down on all fours and wipe his face on the carpet! ---His nose is not runny and his face is not dirty.

Gavin is also into imitating dogs. He pants, sniffs the carpet, and licks the back door. My mom is trying to teach her new dog tricks, and when he sees NaNa get out the doggy treats, he does the commands she gives. He will lay on his stomach and look up with his mouth open when NaNa tells the dog to lay down. It is hilarious!

To die for...

After almost a week of debating whether or not to post this picture because of her little tushy, I decided it was just too cute not to share. I did make sure Levi was okay with it, and surprisingly he was. I still cannot get over the fact that I have a GIRL! Here are two other pictures I want to post so I can look at them without having to search through the hundreds of pictures we have taken since her arrival. I told Levi last night that I seriously don't know if I can function without a baby to love on. We might just end up with TLC cameras following our dozens of kids. :)

A good week for Gavin!

Today is the 4th day in a row Gavin has gone down for a nap completely on his own! Yay Gavin! I actually have never tried it before. I've always laid down and cuddled with him until he fell asleep. It's always been something I've enjoyed, but since Carrigan's arrival, its been more difficult. I have to work his naps around hers. It is times like these that I am reminded of how much of a GOOD and EASY boy I have been blessed with!

He also has eaten steamed carrots twice this week! He is off baby food except for veggies. He won't eat them as table food, but eats them no problem as baby food. Hey, as long as he gets them, right?

Gavin's 18 month check-up is Friday the 13th. His last check-up was Oct. 31. (What are the chances he will grow up afraid of "spooky" dates?? )
I am very anxious to see what his weight is. Since we have stopped baby food, I have no idea if he is getting nearly enough. Liquids are still a struggle. I look forward to the day we look at our growing boy and say, You Are Eating Us Out Of House And Home!! ......Ah, some day.

Oh and yes, you still see him with his paci in pictures. After he turned 1 we knew he was going to have the EGD and wanted him to have it for that. Then he was getting a sister and moving just a month later, so it seemed like a bad time. Now he is getting nasty molars. Keeping the paci around is the best thing we could have done!

When Gavin learned out how to open this, NaNa had to clear it out. It look less than a day for him to figure out he looked pretty good being on display. It is now in hiding. Wearing a "silly hat" I made while taking down birthday decorations. He obviously was not in the mood. Carrigan however thought it was funny.

A concerned little girl

Here is Carrigan being vocal. She was telling me that any minute now she would be hungry. Hopefully I can get a happy babble to put up soon. Isn't she cute???? :)

.... She isn't falling in the beginning of the video. She is trying to sit up. She does that alot these days.

Video Test

I haven't been able to post videos for months and months! I was able to upload a video onto this site and I hope this works!

This is a video of Gavin back in August.. It was the first video I found...

Cross your fingers!
