Whoever said "Time Flies When You Are Having Fun" must have been a mom. Today my precious angel is 9 months old. Between the morning sickness and acid reflux, 9 months of pregnancy seemed to take ages. But between the smiles, hugs, kisses and laughter, the 9 months spent enjoying my Gavin Sawyer have flown by. Every time I think "won't it be fun when..." I also think "wow, I miss when..." I have adored every moment of being a mother so I took advantage of Gavin's nap to put together a little time line of pictures and videos of the past 9 months. Enjoy!

Gavin had his 9 month check up on Tuesday. (he won't be 9 months for another week or so) Both the doctor and the nurse were surprised to see that he is 30 inches tall! He is in the 95th percentile for height. No one would expect anything less from a Carson. He comes from a long line of basketball players. He is 17.9 lbs. The doctor said he may look skinny, but for his height it is perfectly normal. Gavin has had a little bit of a runny nose, sneezing and red, itchy eyes, so the doctor put him on Claritin. His doctor said he probably won't need it past the allergy season. I was glad to hear it was nothing more than allergies when the morning of his appointment I woke up to the sound of Levi vomiting. I guess he just had a bug, because he went on to work and has been fine ever since. Oh and I got Gavin a great doctor today! I have been trying for a while and they said I called at the perfect time because he usually has a full case load. The new doctor is in Little Rock and if ever he needs to be admitted into the hospital, he will go directly to Children's Hospital. Of course I hope we never have to use that perk. Oh yeah.. Gavin has learned to stand on his own for a few moments without holding on to anything. He will be walking in no time! Which of course I will cry both tears of joy for and tears of sadness that my baby is turning into a toddler faster than I expected. He also is getting a second tooth. In the picture where he is in the car seat you can see his first tooth. That is the first and only time I have ever actually gotten it on camera! ... and believe me, I've tried. My first tooth!
Yesterday Levi had the day off, so we went over to my mom's to grill out. Levi made a wonderful dinner and Gavin had a wonderful time as always. He is loving chasing Millie, a very old Cocker Spaniel and watching Madi do her song and dance routines. It is fun seeing him get excited when his NaNa comes to pick him up.
Today was the first day in quite a while that it was warm and dry enough to take a walk. We took full advantage of it! On our walk Gavin got to see a bee for the first time. A butterfly gave him some attention (and of course, where was the camera when I needed it) and we saw 4 turtles! Every mother already knows exactly what I was saying at this moment... "No No No Gavin! Not in your mouth!" This is the best smile Gavin could come up with while outside. Even when his back is to the sun, you'd think someone was shining a light right in his eyes!
It has been a while since I have done a post, so I just wanted to let everyone know we were not blown away by the tornadoes or swept away by the rain. I can not stress enough how much I hate tornadoes. When a storm that could possibly produce tornadoes comes anywhere near White county, I am calling my mom every few minutes if Levi is home with us. If not, we pack our bags and head over to her house. That night the sirens went off at 11:15, then again at 12:30 p.m. I have always been fearful of tornadoes, but holding Gavin, hearing the sirens, and sitting in our laundry room was a whole new experience. I barely had the breath to read books to Gavin to keep him entertained. I hope those were the last of the storms! Here are some random pics from the past few weeks since I haven't been good about sending or posting any lately. Me and my daddy are best friends I'm a cow!!
Peak A Boo! A lady at the store told me I have a punk rock hair-do. I wonder why?
For the past month or so, Levi and I have both said we have heard Gavin say Momma and Dada, but it wouldn't officially count until we both heard him say it at the same time. Well last night he said Momma! I was so excited! Levi agreed that it would count. So in the baby book it will be proven that he loves his mommy the best. JK :)
We went to Bentonville for Easter and Gavin got to meet his brand new cousin Camden. He is the cutest thing and so small! I can't believe it took less than a year for me to look at a newborn and not believe that Gavin was ever so little. I am glad that Gavin will now have a little playmate on Levi's side of the family. Here he is showing some concern as Camden wasn't enjoying the little photo shoot.
So, this post is mainly complaining that the people who decide what size label to put on baby clothes need to have held an actual baby before. Either that or make a section for plus size or petite babies. Levi and I went out to find Gavin an Easter outfit Sunday afternoon. I found a few favorites and had to pick the one that was available in Gavin's size. He will be 8 months on Monday, but is all over the board with what fits him. He got his mommy's body. Long torso and shorter legs. Today he is wearing 12 month overalls with a 3-6 month shirt. So here is why I am frustrated. In this picture are two vests with the same label of 3-6 months. The one on the left fits. The one of the right came with his Easter outfit. Is there not just a tiny bit of a difference in size?? As I was getting ready to try the outfit on Gavin, I told him not to spit up because we might have to take it back. I put on the pants, turned my head to pick up the shirt, looked back at him and he had spit up all over the pants.I guess we are stuck with it now! Lets see if I can shrink it in the wash. If only babies had dressing rooms too.
