Come Rain or Come Shine

Smiles don't come cheap with Miss Bailey Boo, but goodness she's pretty.
--Something she gets from Mommy. My dad would say, "Let me see your teeth" to get me to smile in a picture.

Worms don't stand a chance with Carrigan. More of Carrigan's phrases:
Mommy, (go) in there.
Push me!
Here you go.
There you are.
What's that?

Paint!

Gavin's rules of painting:
1. Paint will stay on paintbrush.
2. Should paint get on hands/body, it must be washed off immediately.
3. Paint must stay on the paper.
4. A hand print can be made if Mommy promises to wash it off.
5. Colors will not mix.

Carrigan's rules of painting:
1. Colors will mix.
2. Paint will be taste tested.
3. With encouragement, I will spread the paint on my body.
4 Paint must be washed off shortly.
5. Painting does not hold interest.
6. Mommy is disappointed this activity does not fulfill my need to be messy like sitting at the dinner table does.

The wedgie monster was out in full force that day.

Cupcakes with Nana

When Nana comes to the store with us and you ask for a cupcake, you get a cupcake. No matter if is already an hour past bedtime!! Afterwards Carrigan was on a sugar high like never before!!

-- Walmart charges $3.00 for a single cupcake. Isn't that crazy?

However now we know Gavin still doesn't like cake and can choose something else for his birthday. I'm thinking powered donuts. He LOVES those.

Melts in your hand when you're 18 months

You probably never noticed (or maybe it's obvious) that we lay a blanket over the cushions of our couch. This morning Carrigan threw up on the couch -- good thing we have the blanket, huh?-- and I never got around to replacing it.

This afternoon I found this....

A certain 18 month old girl got her hands into the M&M's.

Melts in your mouth, not in your hands - Yeah, right!

Now to replace that blanket!!

A little shady

Should you run into our family somewhere around town, you are more than likely going to find my children looking like this. I let them pick out sunglasses a few weeks ago and they wear them everywhere we go. Especially Gavin. Indoors and outdoors. It doesn't matter. He really likes wearing them in stores. They are too big for his face, but he just had to have an orange pair. They attract lots of grins in their shades.

This is Gavin cautioning his little sister. He has become such a protective big brother.

Carrigan's asking, "you hear that?" while covering her ears. She always covers her ears. Why? Because Gavin cups his and this her best imitation.

2 frogs live in our yard. Carrigan found one and as usual had to have a stick to poke it with. She loves her frogs.
Of course, like they do every time we go into the backyard, they have to blow wishing flowers. I know they are weeds, but I hate when they get mowed over. Gavin REALLY hates when they get mowed over.
Almost 3 & 1 1/2 .... I will miss these days so much!!!!!

Happiness - Part 2

I know this is a lot like the Happy Hearts post, but it is just too sweet when a (my) 2 yr old boy says things like this!

Mommy happy?
Daddy happy?
Carrigan happy?
Nana happy?
Joey happy? (Nana's dog)
Madi happy?

WE ARE ALL HAPPY!

18 Months - Part 2

There are more details I want to remember about Carrigan at this age, so here is part 2...

Carrigan loves to dance, dance, dance!

She hates to sit in a shopping cart. She wants down to push the cart or RUN!

She still doesn't like being in the car. The minute we leave the driveway she yells, "Again, Again!" Which means, Mommy sing until we get out of the car. -- She is particular about the songs I sing. She will protest any song she is not in the mood for.

She loves to swing. When we pass her favorite park she waves and yells, "Hi Swing!!!"

She has started using pretty long sentences. The last 2 days she has said, "Look, Bubba help me!" "Baby bottle, where are you?"

She is rarely still. When she wants to cuddle, she sits/lays in your lap while pushing her feet, moving to a new position every other minute, or tossing.

We read books all day long.

She has started wanting to sleep with a baby doll and a blanket.

Carrigan is independent. No question about it. I do it. I do it. I do it!

There are times she and I simply don't get along. (I admit it because it's TRUE)

When she is finished eating, she immediately squishes her food, wipes it on the table and throws it on the floor.

She has learned not to peepee in panties. However she has "accidents" so she can grab whatever is on top of the laundry basket to clean up her mess.

She is rarely given an open cup because the moment I stop looking, she pours it onto her plate or on the floor.

She has an "I know I'm doing something wrong and you can't stop me" laugh. It's as ornery as it gets. I wish I had it on video.

She is pretty shy around people she doesn't know. She freezes up when a child/person comes up to her.

When she cuddles or drinks her milk, she pinches my arm.

She is attached to me in the mornings and after nap. She wants UP UP UP!

She goes to bed at 7:00 p.m. because she gets up with the sun no matter how late we keep her up.

Gavin-isms

I want to make sure I remember all the funny things Gavin is saying these days. This will be the first of many posts on this subject I am sure!

Me: Gavin, I have already told you twice. Go use the potty.
Gavin: Oy Vey!

While sitting on the floor coloring:
Gavin: Mommy, be nice more.
Me: I am always nice.
Gavin: No you not!

Gavin and Carrigan holding hands while taking a walk at the park towards a bridge.
Carrigan; Water! Water! Water! Water!
Gavin: I Know! HUSH! I Know!
Carrigan: Water! Water! Water! Water!
Gavin: Carrigan, I know!!! Hush! Water! I know!!!

Every time we hear a motorcycle:
Gavin: No, motorcycle. Not like it! Too loud. Carrigan night-night!! (even if she isn't)

Every time Carrigan wears a dress:
Gavin: WoooWee! (while twirling his hand)

After seeing a large mess Carrigan had made on the kitchen floor:
Gavin: Oh my! Oh goodness! Oh dear!!

While laying in bed one night;
Gavin: Mommy, go orange park.
Me: Gavin, we can't go right now. It's nighttime. It's dark outside.
Gavin: Dear God, turn light back on. Amen.

18 Months

It is so hard to come up with words to describe Carrigan. She is a child who needs to be experienced. I don't know how many times Levi and I have said, "What are you doing?!?! You are too silly!" Out of the blue she will give you the goofiest face, or start walking in the most awkward way. Her body language is hilarious and oh so ornery.

She plays very well with her brother and thinks he is the best thing in the world. She copies everything he says. She doesn't have a single phrase that is her own. If he is pushing buttons on the TV asking, "Right here?" I know in just a few minutes she will be doing that exact thing!

She doesn't eat. She literally eats 5 bites (if I'm lucky) of food a day. She would drink a gallon of milk a day if I let her. She is attached to her bottle. If I don't give it to her, she asks Gavin to get it out of the fridge for her. His response is, "No Carrigan, you throw up." Sadly, he is right.

One of her favorite things to do is pee pee in the potty. She goes every 5 minutes. If she tells you she needs to go, you'd better listen! She has also gone #2 three times. She is quite proud of herself!

Carrigan loooovvvess animals. She has no fear. No matter if it's a frog or a goose taller than her, she gives it her full attention. She ALWAYS kicks up her leg and yells "GIT!" as she approaches. It cracks me up every time!

She has 12 teeth. 4 are on their way.

She can identify a circle and a heart. She also knows the colors blue, green, orange and red.

She can jump off the ground. She has been doing this for quite a while and is pretty good at it.

She loves to tickle her Daddy and give him zerberts on his belly and back.

Only Mommy can put her to bed.

Loves babies and baby dolls.

Her FAVORITE show is Oswald. When we leave the house she almost always waves and says, Bye Ohgoh, Bye Neenie Bye Henee (Oswald, Weenie, Henry)

She still loves, loves, loves Elmo, but isn't that interested in his show, just his songs. Which she asks to watch 100x a day.

She is loud, strong, messy, ornery, flat out adorable, a magnet to elderly men, frustrating, funny, eager, smart, soft, squeezable, fast, and joyous. She is my Carrigan!

Here are some of her frequent sayings:

A conversation we have MULTIPLE times EVERY day:

Carrigan: Mommy eat. (while twirling her hand)
Me: What do you want to eat?
Carrigan: Um um ummmm. (with her finger tapping her chin) Chocolate cereal
Me: No chocolate cereal
Carrigan: Cereal bar
Me: You don't like cereal bars
Carrigan: Chocolate cereal bar!!!

Hear that? She covers both ears with her hands.

Where Dada go?

Mommy, where are you? (whe are woo)

Here ya go

When she sees large letters she yells, Look Mommy, ABC's!

No, no Bubba. Be nice!

Bubba night-night? SHHH!!!

A baf! A baf! (bath)Right here (Bi heh)

No, hair bow!!!!

banana (b-nana)

Elephant (ehmen)

Go outside (ouyih)

It is hard to get a picture of her smile. It seems like the only way I can get one is if I play peak-a-boo behind the camera...which of course means the picture is off. BUT this post deserves some Carrigan smiles so here are 3 I got on her 18 month b-day!

Tiny Tot

So, my son is little. He has always been little. He is a 24 lb almost 3 yr old. But when he fit in his little sister's doll's pants, that even surprised me!
Anyone feel my pain on finding pants that fit this boy now?!?!
