You just don't understand

Me: You two be nice to each other.

Gavin: "I want to be mad at Carrigan and Carrigan wants to be mad at me. You just don't understand, Mommy."

When you are teenagers and fighting like cats and dogs, I just want you to remember that you had this all figured out when you were 3.

Oh Carrigan....

I found Carrigan sitting on the kitchen counter tonight. As I walked toward her she started saying,

"What's wrong, Mommy? What's wrong, Mommy? I not what wrong. Not worry. It's okay, Mommy. Not cry, Mommy. Not cry."

I don't know if she was using strategy, felt my pain, or just plain doesn't get why I get upset at the things she does.

..............................................

3:30 a.m. this morning I wake up to a loud cry,

"I can't do it! I can't do it! HELP! I can't do it!!!!"

She had an almost full gallon of milk in one hand and her sippy cup in the other. She was in the hallway and couldn't make it the rest of the way to my room.

How I can possibly forget to lock the fridge is beyond me.

..............................................

In a public restroom,

"Bubba went poopoo! Bubba did! Bubba did go poopoo! I LOOOVE POOPOO!!"

E.m.b.a.r.r.a.s.s.i.n.g

............................................

"BUBBA, WHY YOU MAKE ME MAD AT YOU???"

She is such a girl..... such.a.girl

My Little Wonder Girl

Said this morning at breakfast:

Me: Do you want this?
Carrigan: Oh, of course. I almost forgot.

Carrigan. Peaches yucky. I want oranges.
Me: Okay, I will get you oranges.
Carrigan: You promise?

To Gavin: "Hey, why you do that? Be nice to me!"

Me: "Do you want to go with us?
Carrigan: "Yes, I do want to go byebye with Mommy & Bubba."

I am raising little genius babies..... kind of scares me.... in a good way.

Hi!!!

Poor neglected blog, I have not forgotten about you!

Very soon I will be wrapping up photography for the year and have a few months of enjoying my camera only being used on my children.

Blog posts with no pictures are just no fun, so I have no motivation to do them! (I seem to take very few pics of my babies when taking pictures of others, so we will see if it is worth the compromise in the upcoming year)

For now here are some stats from their check-up on 11-4-10.

Gavin:
Weight: 27.4 lbs
Height: 37 inches

Carrigan:
Weight: 28.2
Height: 36 inches
Head Circ: 19 inches

Carrigan is 2!

I should be saying that I can't believe my baby is already 2, but it feels like she has been 2 for a while now. Nothing about her is 1. She can jump high and long, speaks in full sentences, knows sooooo much and has the biggest personality EVER!

Carrigan can identify all upper case letters and some lower case.

She can sort of count to 19. :) She skips some, but makes it there!

She SINGS! All the time, this girl sings! What is amazing is that she knows the words and you can understand her. The other day I came in on her singing, "Peace, Peace. Wonderful Peace. Coming Down..." That was my FAVORITE bedtime song growing up. It is Gavin's too. :) I need to get a video of her singing the classic theme song to Winnie the Pooh. That is her ultimate favorite song.

She is a cat person. (Just like her Mommy!) Cats are the most wonderful thing in the world to her. We tried having a kitten and bringing over my cat from my mom's house, but she loves them a little too hard. :) She could care less for dogs and shouts, "Go away!" when one comes near her.

She loves to jump. When she sees a crack, is getting off a rug, or is going from one type of flooring to another she JUMPS over it. It is so cute and something she has been doing for a loooonnnggg time!

Her favorite color is red. No ifs ands or buts about it! Sometimes she will be crying in the car and I'll ask her what she wants and she will reply, "I want red!"

She can embarrass us now. :)
To the lady at the drive through window, "F-I-N-A-L-L-Y!"
In response to a waitress asking if everything is okay, "I not happy."
In response to a hostess asking if we need anything, "Ummm, Daddy need go peepee."
In church, "Draw Bubba go peepee. Draw Daddy go peepee, etc..."
In church, "No NaNa's church! I want go HOOMMMEEE!"

She pinches me to comfort herself, put herself to sleep, get my attention, and to upset me. My arms are scratched and bruised up and down.

She loves to play Night-Night. She will get in hers or Gavin's bed, cover up, close her eyes and snore soooo loudly! She also loves to do this in the bath. It's too cute and she does it for a surprisingly long time.

She loves putting things on her head. At least once a day she will come out of a room with a hat, bucket, or tote over her head.... and every day I laugh at it! If it weren't so hard to find play hats, she'd have a ton! She also likes putting on glasses and bracelets. My girl loves her accessories. :)

She is shy around other children, but on a few occasions has claimed playground equipment to be her own.

Give her fruit and liquids and she would need nothing else to eat. Ever.

Naked is the only way to be.

She is STRONG. Very strong.

Things she hates and makes sooo stinking hard to do... partly because she is so strong.
1. Brushing her teeth
2. Brushing her hair
3. Putting in a hair bow
4. Going to bed
5. Being buckled up in her car seat
6. Staying in a shopping cart

She is afraid of nothing. If she sees a bug, frog, lizard, cat, tractor, goose... she goes straight for it shouting, "I got it!"

When I leave for longer than just a few hours (which isn't often) she likes to introduce me to everyone in the house when I arrive back home. "Hi Mommy. This my Bubba. This Daddy. I Carrigan."

She pronounces her name, "Cawadin"

My favorite thing she says is, "What's that noise?" because it comes out, "What bat noooooiiiiiiissssse?"

Just about every word is said (mostly) correctly with the exception of one word, umbrella. Said, "Abacacca."

ONLY Mommy can put her to bed.

I love every bit of her!

But I wouldn't miss the tantrums. :)

Time travels too quickly these days.

I came across this picture tonight. Gavin was 13 months old and still mostly eating baby food & Cinnamon bread. (notice the Cinnamon bread and spoons in the bag) Carrigan arrived just 4 days later. Now he is 3 and in 4 days she will be 2.

WOW

My Sweet

As Gavin was leaving the room I asked, "Where are you going?" He turned around, put his hand on my hand and said, "Oh, don't worry Mommy. I will never leave you and Carrigan."

As we were walking back to the car from The Old Mill, something happened that made him think he hurt my finger:
"Oh Mommy, I very sorry I hurt your finger. Let me kiss it. (kisses my pinky) I very, very sorry."
Since then he was apologized in the most sincere way at least 5 times, always kissing my finger and melting my heart.

As I was finishing up dinner (tacos, which he likes) I see him go behind the laundry room door. While holding open the other door:
"Hurry Carrigan, hide! Mommy is cooking and she will make you cry! Hide! You better hurry!"

Is the sky happy or sad? Are my trains happy or sad? Is my cereal happy or sad? Is church happy or sad? --- You get the idea... :)

But why? Why? Why? Why? Why? --- You get the idea!! :)

Hey look, a football bat!

*Gasp* Oh look at Carriagn! She is very, very pretty!

Carrigan is my best friend!

Mommy, I have a fever. I do not feel well. Can we play at McDonald's? Will you hug me? --- Sneaky!

Will you hug me? -- Also asked when he isn't being sneaky, and is always the sweetest thing!

Gavin: "Mommy, why you put makeup on?"
Me: "Because girls like to be pretty."
Gavin: "But you already pretty, so why you put makeup on your eyes?"

Talking is what I do!

So many times we have said, "She is too young to be saying that!" Carrigan amazes me. :)

We will start with her proudest accomplishment, "I did poo poo in Mommy's potty!"

"Where Bubba go? I not see Bubba. There you are, my Bubba!"

"I have it right here!"

"Mommy, find it my shoe."

"Is Carrigan coming too?"

"I need my Daddy."

"I want Mommy put me night-night."

"I want Maggie, Beast, Hamilton on computer."

"I want ride in Daddy's red car!"

"Hip Hip Hooray!"

"Not worry. I find it."

"Uh oh, Bubba. You okay?"

"Not touch me!"

"Nope, not anymore!"

Are they twins?

I get asked, "Are they twins?" quite often. This however was a strange conversation on the matter! The woman was in her 20's and looked perfectly normal.

Woman: "Oh, you have 2 little ones! Are they two boys or two girls?"

Me: A boy and a girl.

Woman: I never got my boy. I have 2 girls. Are they twins?

Me: No.

Woman. Are you sure?

Me: Pretty sure.

Woman: Well, they sure look like it. You have 2 very beautiful girls!

Lucky number of the day

In March both Gavin & Carrigan weighed in at 24.2 lbs.

7 months later, they both weigh 26.8 lbs.

When I asked Levi how much he thought they weighed, he guessed Carrigan to be 8 lbs heavier. She feels that way. I don't know how they are the same weight, but they are!

Carrigan singing ABC's

She says, "hair bow" in the middle of her song, then after pushing Gavin, she says, "It's my chair."

Carrigan can sing her ABC's much better than this, but I thought the interaction between her and Gavin was funny on this one. :) Enjoy!

Conversations with Carrigan

A common conversation with my daughter.
Carrigan: Mommy eat!
Me: What do you want to eat?
Carrigan: Strawberries.
Me: You want strawberries?
Carrigan: NO!
Carrigan: Watermelon.
Me: Okay, watermelon.
Carrigan No watermelon!!!

After finding her on the counter in the bathroom:
Carrigan: Bubba no no get up there.

Noticing a scratch on her neck...
Me: What happened to your neck?
Carrigan: Bubba hurt me.
Me: Bubba hurt you?
Carrigan: Nope, not anymore!

Said about most objects/people/animals:
Carrigan: Police car hurt me. It's no no!
Me: No a police car won't hurt you.
Carrigan: Police car not hurt me?
Me: No it won't hurt you.
Carrigan: POLICE CAR HURT ME!

Suddenly I hear Gavin screaming & find Carrigan sitting on him, pulling his hair:
(after getting onto her)
Carrigan: What happened (with) Bubba?
Me: You pulled his hair. That's what happened.
Gasp with wide eyes followed by fake cry and holding her own hair.
Carrigan: Ice on it
Me: Did Bubba pull your hair?
Gavin: No I not.
Carrigan: KITTY HURT ME! Kitty no no!

Wouldn't you know it....

There is a boy under all that hair!

This was only my second time to use clippers, so I am so happy it didn't turn out like last time.. a horrible buzz cut!! Tomorrow I will try to soften the front, but this only took about 15 minutes and doing it with scissors take DAYS! The boy is scared to death of being cut, but clippers are fun to him!

A mess of a child

This morning at 8:30 a.m. I sat down at the computer. Carrigan asked for water, so I asked Gavin if he'd get Carrigan's sippy cup out of the fridge. Carrigan comes to me with her cup then heads off towards cartoons. A couple of minutes later I smell this strange smell. I walk into the living room and see THIS:
My daughter had emptied an entire bottle of mustard onto the living room rug!!! Gavin was standing a few feet back just watching. After hearing my gasp, Carrigan looked at me and said, "Bubba Big No No!"

(she is naked because she is ALWAYS naked. She can take every article of clothing off herself and prefers nakedness)

Oh what a mess!!!

-- Just yesterday I found my little critters had poured out half a container of Parmesan cheese onto the kitchen floor. Time to start using the lock on the fridge again!

Gavin's 3rd Birthday Weekend Getaway - Part 2

Gavin talked about the hotel for almost a week before his birthday and now he still can't stop talking about it! He loved every part -- other than having to sleep there, of course.
Before bed, Gavin discovered it was SO MUCH FUN to watching yourself dance in a full length mirror! It was too funny! Markers & Willy Wonka before bed. On our way to Toy Story 3! -- 2 tickets + water & M&M's ($8.75 for the snack!!) and he lasted about 15 minutes into the movie before he was bored and wanted to leave. The commercials & previews were just toooo looonnnggg!!! The whistle he won in the arcade in Larry's Pizza. I hope we make this a tradition. I loved getting away and spending alone time with him!

Gavin's 3rd Birthday Weekend Getaway - Part 1

Saturday, July 24, 2010, Gavin Sawyer Carson-King turned 3 years old!! We left Saturday morning to do all Gavin's favorite things. We went to The Wonder Place, Larry's Pizza/arcade, back to The Wonder Place, checked into our hotel, went swimming, played in the Splash Zone & ate Chinese Food. Levi & Carrigan went home, then Gavin & I spent the night in the hotel, but not before a trip to Target! That is a lot of things for 2 little ones and 2 parents! The next day Gavin & I had breakfast, then went to the movies to see Toy Story 3! Then it was off to Cracker Barrel for lunch & Kohl's! -- Target & Kohls' don't seem like fun for a little boy, but he loves going shopping alone with Mommy, especially when we check out the toys!

Big Girl Bed

Last week Carrigan climbed out of her crib at nap time. She then climbed out of her bed at 1 a.m. The next day Levi converted her bed into a toddler bed. (we still need to order the rail)

So far in the middle of the night I have found her sleeping in a pile of shoes by the back door, next to her closet, standing on her feet with her back arched onto her mattress, and in the middle of the living room.

Another wonderfully hard thing to deal with, is my girl still won't stop climbing! Places I have found her in just the past 3 days:

1. On the kitchen counter getting into the medicine. -- she had also turned on the oven

2. Standing in the top drawer of the dresser. (she was so high we were face to face & I am 5'10!)

3. In the bathroom sink

4. Standing on the computer desk

5. On the kitchen table.

6. She climbed on the side of her crib (after it was converted into a toddler bed) and fell off while she was supposed to be laying down for a nap. I comforted her, put her back in bed then went back to check on her a few minutes later. There she was, about to fall off again!

I Big!

Gavin will turn 3 in just 2 days. He is beyond thrilled about this. Here are some comments he has made about his birthday/turning 3/being big.

Mommy, Daddy, Carrigan, Madi, NaNa all say SURPRISE! Happy Birthday, Gavin!!

I big. Carrigan small. I big boy. Carrigan baby girl.

Mommy, you happy I big?

I 25 year old. I big. I big like Daddy.

Anytime something adds up to 5, Gavin must say, I 1 2 3 4 5 year old. I 5! I 5 year old!

He stood on a bathroom scale, looked down and said, Mommy, I 12! I 12 year old!

My birthday! I watch TV in my underwear!

I not like ketchup. I eat ketchup when I big like Madi & William big.

Looking through a Toys R Us catalog -- I want that and that and that and that toy for my birthday. I want ALL toys for my birthday!

He and Carrigan will sing "Happy Birthday" to each other at the table.

He is super excited about turning 3!

I'm a little talker

My little girl talks A LOT.... and not just for her age. She is chatter box! -- and Gavin's very own parrot.

Bubba! Go home! NOW! -- Repeated over and over through NaNa's bedroom door yesterday.

Chocolate cereal all gone? At store? Cereal bar all gone? At store?

Singing as loud as she can, That's Elmo's World!

When Gaivn cries, I know, Bubba, I know. & You're okay, Bubba.

Hot Outside -- said in most conversations

She and Gavin crawled under the bed after the kitty - "Kitty under bed too!"

Get up there.

We did it!

I did it! Hooray!

I got it!

My turn now.

Hurt me? -- When looking at a picture of an animal

Ice on it. -- whenever she gets a booboo

Look at me! -- Usually said when jumping on the bed.

Sit Momma Lap.

A B C W -- Her ABC's!

1 2 3 Go!

Carrigan wear underwear.

Scrunched up, sweet smiling face.

I have the first 2 pictures framed, and I have been thinking about framing the 3rd. I then noticed he has the same scrunched up smile in all 3 pictures. That face melts my heart every time!

12 Months 27 Months 35 Months
My Angelic boy is almost 3!! Just 14 more days. Sigh..

Give them 30 minutes

And they'll give you a lifetime of smiles...
