Mr Smarty Pants

These past few weeks have been amazingly fun with Gavin. He has started talking so much more than ever before! There is no way possible for me to list all his new words. In fact, when Levi comes home from work each day I tell him Gavin's new phrase instead of his new word. It is amazing to hear a series of words come out of his mouth that have never been said before! I LOVE IT!

Some of my favorites:
Thank You, Momma. Said, "Kank Eww, Mooooma"
DaDa, Help. "HAY-e-p!"
More mac & cheese, Momma. "Moh ma-ma keys, Momma"
Where baby kitty go?
DaDa Home!!
Airplane high in sky "airmaine"
A booboo knee? Said for a booboo on any part of the body.
Sticky Hand "Ham"
Puzzle Piece "pubble peas"
C'mon, Carrigan!

There are plenty more that I can't think of right now!

He is also insanely interested in puzzles. When we give him a brand new puzzle, he will have it figured out in less than 3 minutes. I have sat with my mouth wide open in amazement!

Books have also come back in style. I read Goodnight Moon 100+ times a day. The book looks run ragged!

He LOVES to spell his name. G-A-B-I-M! ha... He wants to know every letter, color, number and animal.

Here is my handsome boy right after a haircut he got 2 weeks ago. He screamed, kicked and cried like he did when he had blood drawn. We had a crowd surrounding our chair with people offering their cell phones, suckers and funny faces to try to calm him down. It was awful!! Looks like I'll be cutting his hair myself for a bit longer!

You can really see how his hair is getting darker in these pictures. You can see the blonde peaking through in spots. He looks so grown up!! I miss my blonde spiky haired baby!

Who here thinks this is a picture of my child? I don't. It can't be. Who told him he could grow up so fast?
Oh - and what makes him look so different in this picture? (besides the haircut) Eyebrows!! Don't ask me how, but in this picture he has them. ha. I have put eye shadow over the few eyebrow hairs he has, and boy -o- boy do they have a high arch! It's been 2 years and I still can't get over that dimple! Hmm... Should I be a Doctor or Lawyer? Perhaps a famous Movie Star? I've got it! I'll do all 3! I have no idea why this slide upset him. He goes down much bigger ones at the park!

Oh potty training.... *Update*

Update: Problem or Progress?
Today we seem to have a new "problem." Gavin is no longer taking off his diaper after he "goes" in his diaper. He pees and poos with his diaper OFF!! I have cleaned up 3 messes today! He will find me, then point and say "Poo Poo" He will then lead me to the mess on the floor. Yuck!! BUT he wants to go out of his diaper sooo??? He is deathly afraid of sitting on the potty. Not sure why. I am hoping this is a sign that he will be potty trained soon and not a disgusting habit I will be dealing with for months to come!

Potty training around here has not been going strong. Gavin only wants to pee-pee when he wants and only wants to stand on the big potty. We are in no rush to potty train our boy, so I decided to wait until he was a little older so the concept of sitting on the potty might be less of a struggle.

WELL......

When Gavin goes #2, he hides. He also won't go in public. But the last 4 days or so, Gavin has been doing something new. As soon as he finishes going in his diaper, he comes over to me and takes off his diaper. He then goes over to the bathroom and says Poo-Poo.

Levi tried putting him on the potty last night, walking out and closing the door so he would have his privacy. Gavin freaked out!!

I have NO IDEA what to do!!!

Playing House

Grandma & Grandpa got Gavin a playhouse for his birthday. Both Gavin and Carrigan have a great time playing in it!

But sometimes trying to get out gets a little tricky! The doorbell is their favorite feature. Gavin pretended the sink was a phone when he couldn't find the "real" phone. Found It! Much better! Carrigan's favorite part is how close she is with her brother. Why? Because it's easier to give each other love! -- Notice those teefies! And sometimes love hurts!! Also check out Gavin's arm. In some of the pictures you can see Carrigan has learned to BITE! Thank you so much for the wonderful gift!

The most daring photo I have ever taken...

Why is a photo of my dear, sweet girl sleeping my most daring photo? Here is why!!

As I've said before, Carrigan is a light sleeper. If there is one thing she has inherited from me, that is it. Levi likes to say he can wake me up simply by mouthing my name.

Over the past few months, Carrigan's crib became a big waste of space. She would not sleep in it. She could be out cold and the moment her back hit the sheets, she was wide awake and screaming. That led to her sleeping in bed with me. It is only because I am such a light sleeper that I allow this. BUT my little darling is a roller. When she searches for a comfortable position, she go this why and that, and that makes me nervous.

I told Levi no matter what, Carrigan has got to learn to sleep in her own bed. AND she has to learn to go back to sleep without nursing since that will be going byebye by the time she turns 1.

Last night was the big night. After she was asleep, I laid her in her crib. She stayed asleep until 11:30. I had made up my mind that I was not going to pick her up the entire night. I leaned over the crib, gave her hugs and kisses, turned on a lullaby cd, then sat and waited. She screamed for about 4 minutes then stood listening to the music. I came back over to give her more love. After only 10 minutes or less, I had her laying down and I rubbed her back until she was fast asleep. WOW!

She woke up again at 1:30. I turned the music back on, laid her down, rubbed her belly and she was out within 5 minutes. The same thing happened 4 more times that night. What is amazing is the only time she really cried was that first time.

Today at nap I put her in her crib, turned on her music, walked out for no more than 5 minutes, then came in to rub her belly. It worked like magic. AWESOME!

Now all we need to do is get 8 straight hours of sleep out of her! I think it's high time I got a good night's rest!

Paci-Free is the Way to Be!

Sunday we were on our way to Little Rock and could only find one paci to bring with us. Somewhere during our day Levi noticed Gavin had bit a hole in it. Since all he was getting was a mouth full of air when he tried sucking on it, Gavin chewed it and kept it in the side of his mouth.
We noticed on the way home he had laid it in his lap and fell asleep without it. Since then I made sure to only give him the paci with the hole in it. Today he asked for his paci once. When I handed it to him he said, "Uh-uh Mama" and threw it. He has gone down for his nap and bed without it. We seem to be officially paci free!

I am going to miss it! It seems to take him a very long time to wind down for bed without it. Nap is usually at 11:30 and has been at 2:00 since he stopped using a paci. I may be driven insane.

Oh, and yes, he has called his paci, "mama" for a while now. For about a month my name was Laura. (Raura or Wawa) I am happy to be the only "Momma" in the house once again!

The last picture I have of my boy with his paci.
