12 month check-up

Gavin had his 12 month check up on Friday. He had to get shots, but we won't talk about those. :( As smart as people are these days, you'd think one of them would come up with ORAL vaccines!
His official 1 yr stats are:
Weight: 18 lbs 10 oz - 5th percentile
Height: 30 inches - 50% percentile

He had been to the doctor just a week before due to his eye infection and I had discussed Gavin's eating habits with his doctor again. She had suggested taking Gavin to a children's eating specialist depending on how his appointment with the Gastroenterologist went. After comparing his weight over the past few months this visit, she decided to go ahead and make an appointment with a food specialist. At 8 months Gavin weighed 18 lbs. At 12 months he weighs 18.10 lbs. It is fortunate that he has stayed the same height or we would be in the danger zone. She hopes we can come up with ways to get over Gavin's strong gag reflux and get him eating foods with chunks and different textures.
We have made very good progress with eating this month. His intake of pureed foods has doubled and I have gotten him to eat tiny pieces of bread, little freeze dried fruit snacks and yogurt bites. When he sees me getting out the yogurt bites he starts yelling NUM NUM!! (Yummy!)
We are to keep him on formula / PediaSure for the extra calories and nutrients. He still won't take a sippy cup because he has to be starving to take in fluids, which means he isn't getting the extra water he needs.
I also need to bring him in for a weight check in 2 months to make sure he isn't losing weight. I think we will be surprised with a positive weight gain simply because he has amazed me with how much fruit/veggies he is taking in without cutting down on formula.

I'm a 1 year old!!

Yesterday Gavin officially turned 1. I didn't get emotional like I thought I would. I think it will take some time to get used to saying I have a 1 year old. But I know lots of fun will come this next year!

We started off the day by playing outside. Then it was time for his first big bubble bath! This picture almost made me cry. Gavin looks exactly like my dad did in his elementary school year book pictures. I used to laugh at him because every year he had the same goofy look on his face. I need to scan one and put them side by side. It makes me feel like my dad showed up to wish him a happy birthday! Levi had to work during the day but had a little while to play before going to class. Mom and Madi stopped by to wish him happy birthday and eat cupcakes. Since it was the last day for this class, Levi was home by 7, so we got to spend some outside time playing with some of his new toys. Then of course we had to have cake!! I am not going to get sentimental in this post about how wonderful and blessed my life is now that I am the mother of the most beautiful and sweet child in the world, but I can't resist posting at least one picture (or three) of me and my baby. I know all moms think their child is the most beautiful in the world, but from the moment he was born he was simply gorgeous!!

Gavin's 1st Birthday Party!

Gavin had his first birthday party today!! He won't be officially 1 for another 5 days, but we wanted to have the party when Levi's family would be able to make it to Searcy. Thank you so much for coming!
Unfortunately Gavin was all but a happy camper for his party. Yesterday I took him to the doctor and he has a viral infection, pink eye and allergies that just won't leave him alone. From the moment he woke up this morning all he wanted was for me to hold him. The moment his feet touched the ground he would scream! This made doing all the decorating a little difficult!
The party turned out great and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The kids especially loved the pool. It was the first time we were letting Gavin swim in NaNa's pool but with being sick, the heat and so many people around he didn't want any part of it.
Here are some pictures from the party. It is hard choosing from 185 pictures taken today!

Mommy and the sick little birthday boy. Poor baby! Gavin's dinosaur cake! Isn't his little puppy cake cute? I had been nervous about lighting the candle for months so Levi and I stood on either side of him while singing the birthday song. Sure enough as soon as the song starts he sticks his hand right in the flame , gets hot wax on his hand and bursts into tears! My poor little boy! There wasn't a burn and he still played in the cake. He even tasted icing which was more than I expected! Ms Carol... Just about the only thing that could make him laugh! Grandma checking out my mess! Present time! I promise I like my car Grandma and Grandpa! After everyone had left I took Gavin outside and tried out the pool again. He wanted to jump right in! I stripped him naked and my mom came outside and got in with him. She was dressed from head to toe! The things grandmothers will do... :) It was a great day and we are so thankful for everyone who came!

Just pictures

Okay so I don't really have anything to post about. I just put pictures that were on my camera on the computer and thought I would share them.

I guess I could post about a few of his new words!
NumNum =Yummy
ABoo = A Book (his absolute favorite thing in the world is to be read to)
When you ask him "What does a cow say?" He says Boo. ha.. close enough... When you ask him about a dog, he pants. For a horse he does the vibrating lip thing. No idea how to type it but hopefully you know what I mean!

So here are the pictures...

Sitting on his pillow couch and watching Noggin after a nap while Mommy gets everything ready to go have lunch with Daddy. Mommy stop bugging me! I'm trying to watch Moose A. Moose! Trying to put Daddy's hat on himself. Aren't babies precious??? Peek-A-Boo! I feel like I won the lottery with my child. He is just so stinkin cute! And on top of that he is the perfect son of course. :) My first bike ride with Daddy. At work with Daddy. Eating McDonald's fries.. KIDDING!! He was just carrying an empty carton while eating one of his rice crackers. Promise! How come every time me and Daddy play, Mommy always yells, "Careful!!" ????

Sawyer Pants

Not much is going on around here. We are still stuck indoors due to Gavin's allergies. We tried playing outside for a while on Saturday and by the next morning the only way he could sleep was by being in a seated position. He also won't drink any more than 2-3 ounces per bottle for almost a day after being in the heat. He really doesn't mind being cooped up in the house. He is a homebody just like his Mommy!

Gavin is walking about 80-90% of the time now. Once he learned how to stand without pulling up on anything he left crawling behind him. I have gotten some cute videos of him walking but our computer freezes when I try to upload anything longer than just a few seconds. :(

My baby's birthday is coming up so fast! Just 10 more days until I have a 1 yr old!! I got all the present shopping done and I thought the hard part would be finding everything I was looking for. Thanks to ToysRUs I got everything in one store! What turns out being the hard part is resisting giving him his toys before his party! We failed miserably at Christmas and kept having to come up with new ideas for gifts. :)

Here are a few random pictures I find to be amusing. Enjoy!

After every bath he wants to chew on his lotion bottle. Hanging out with MawMaw Nana who he is getting quite attached to... And needless to say she is quite attached to him!

Gavin Sawyer! What On Earth???

What do you get when you turn your back on an 11 month old for less than 2 minutes? TROUBLE! Trouble is what you get!! It is ironic because the shirt he was wearing during the second story actually says, Nothing But Trouble

Monday Gavin was playing in the living room so I went into the kitchen to finish loading the dishwasher. All the sudden I hear Gavin yelling, "Momma No No No No!" I look into the living room and I had left my cup on the side table. Gavin was putting his hand as close as it could get without actually touching the cup, pulling his hand away and saying "Momma No No No No" It was hilarious! I've actually seen him do this before when getting too close to the stairs, but this was the first time he's done it without me being in the room. Hopefully he will always be this easy to discipline when he becomes a toddler!

Now onto today! A couple of hours ago Gavin woke up from his nap, had a bottle, then played for a little while. I was right in the room with him the entire time. There was nothing out of the ordinary. All of the sudden I notice blood on his shirt. I go to him to check it out and there is blood all over his chin! What in the world?? Just as I notice the phone rings, its my mom, I tell her what happened and I'll have to call her back. She was on her way to taking Madi over to the park so she was knocking on the door within 2 minutes!
I just couldn't figure it out, then it hit me that he was trying to open his wipes with his teeth. I let him have an empty wipe box because he loves putting his toys in it and shutting it closed. Sure enough there was blood all over his box! While trying to open it, he cut the inside of his bottom lip on the lid.
Well THEN I bring him upstairs, I am on the computer for a few minutes, look back, and this is what I see!
I couldn't believe it! You might be thinking I need to keep a closer eye on my child, but if you know me, you probably think I need to give the boy a little more space!
I couldn't believe it didn't phase him one little bit. He never fussed either time. What a sneak to have done it twice!

Wrong week!

Ok so I obviously am not keeping track of this pregnancy as closely as I was with Gavin. I said I was 22 weeks and I am actually 23. On Tuesday I will be 24 weeks. Oops!

I also forgot to post my due date. It is October 29, 2008. I am hoping he/she is a few days late so I will have a November baby. It just seems better than October for some reason. ???

I also realized that I never said how excited we are to be having another baby! At first, yes the news was hard to swallow, but shortly after all the benefits of having two so close together came to us. We are so glad Gavin will have a little friend! We also cannot wait to see what another version of Levi and Laura will look like. Hopefully at least a little more like me this time!

I actually have no clue what the sex might be at this point. Last time Levi and I were 99.9% sure we were having a girl and when we saw during the ultrasound it was a boy we were stunned!
The only big difference is this time I crave sweets. And I mean I CRAVE sweets! With Gavin the mere thought of something sweet made me sick to my stomach. It was that way the entire pregnancy. But this time around it is the complete opposite. I was in my car, about to drive away from the store after getting groceries and a little girl eating a snickers walked in front of my car. If I hadn't had Gavin with me and it wasn't such a hot day I would have walked right back into that store to get one! I also can't get my mind off doughnuts (a sweet I normally don't like eating) and it is killing me going cake shopping for Gavin's birthday! So maybe this time it is a girl! But of course having 2 boys so close in age would be so much fun!!

So those are the details I left off and messed up. And like I said before, this baby is a kicker. I can see my stomach jumping around as I type this!

The news is out!

Last week Levi and I decided to let our parents in on a little secret we have been keeping. Baby number 2 is on its way! Thats right! We are pregnant AGAIN!
To add to the surprise, we also let them know that we are not newly pregnant. I am now 22 weeks along! Our two loves will only be 15 months apart!!!
And YES it was unplanned! Just about as unplanned as you can get! My preference was to wait until Gavin was 3 to have another baby.
We know it isn't the nicest thing to keep news this big a secret, especially for 5 whole months, but there was just something about it that was fun. Although I cannot say all reactions to the news were fun! I could read all over my mom's face that she wanted to slap me as soon as we told her. She decided to rub my back instead. ha...
You may be wondering if we know the sex of the baby yet, but we actually don't. We should be finding out VERY soon but due to an insurance glitch we haven't. (don't they know not to mess with a pregnant woman??)
The baby is doing very well and kicks like crazy! The heartbeat is 146 and I am measuring correctly this time around. With Gavin I was measuring small because I had such horrible morning sickness. I gained my first pound during that pregnancy at my 8 month checkup. I wish I could say the same this time! Maybe I'll post the belly pics from the 1st pregnancy. hehe
Oh, and to Levi's family.. Yes this means I was pregnant at Easter. I was going through morning sickness at that time. It took just about everything out of me to wake up at 3 a.m. drive 4 hours, then thanks to my husband, have to drive the last hour home! That was rough! :) He did tell me I was superwoman when we arrived home.
And to Laura.. If you remember, when we were at Red Robin, after I put Gavin's highchair at the table, I just stood there for a few minutes. You asked me if I was trying to decide if Levi or I should sit by Gavin. I was actually trying to decide if you or Bill would order the more offensive smelling meal. :) I remembered that you have ordered fish a few times I have eaten with you, so I chose to sit in front of Bill. ha..

And I know this is mean BUT Levi and I are actually debating whether to keep the sex of the baby a secret after we find out. If you think about it, the baby is due in 4 months, so you would be waiting the same amount of time as if we had told you we were pregnant from the beginning!
